Annie Shannon has lived all over the United States but now has a real home with two spoiled cats, a growing graphic novel collection and the love of her life Dan in Brooklyn, NY. During her years as an activist she has worked in a wide variety of roles ranging from sexual assault counselor to fashion industry liaison promoting animal friendly fashion playing a key role in Project Runway Winner, Jay McCarroll’s fur free fashion show at New York Fashion Week in 2006. These days, she is the Manager of Online Communication and Development for the animal advocacy organization In Defense of Animals and has completely given into her inner nerd that she likes to think of as “Geek Chic”.
Dan Shannon grew up outside of Boston, MA—the hub of the universe. After first going vegan in high school, in college he served as president of the Wesleyan Animal Rights Network—the first campus animal rights organization to successfully lobby their school administration to use only cage-free eggs on campus, setting a precedent for many more to follow. Dan then spent 10 years working for People for the Ethical Treatment of animals, where he was Director of Youth Outreach & Campaigns. Now, he lives with his wife Annie in Brooklyn, NY and does strategy consulting for non-profits and other organizations working on issues of social concern. This solar system’s yellow sun gives him a wide range of super-powers.
